about me

Hi! I’m Hannah, a sensitivity reader, book reviewer, and aspiring intimacy coordinator for film and theater.

I love reading, and I specialize in nostalgic “throwback” YA novels, contemporary stories about female friendships, and non-fics about intersectional feminism, (de)colonization of Asian nations, and reproductive rights.

If I don’t have my nose in a book, I spend my free time going to yoga and muay thai classes, and also volunteering for an equestrian therapy organization!

Q. What is a sensitivity reader and why is it important?

Sensitivity readers are a type of editorial service that helps authors depict historically marginalized communities (e.g., LGBTQ+, POC, neurodivergent folk, etc.) in the most accurate and “sensitive” manner, often tapping into their own lived experiences to help those who do not necessarily share that background.

Sensitivity reading is crucial in eliminating harmful stereotypes and inaccurate depictions of people’s lived experiences in all kinds of written work.

Q. Do you do sponsored book reviews?

In the spirit of cultivating an environment that encourages honest book reviews, I strictly do not accept any offers to do sponsored book reviews. Please see my independent reviews, which focus on examining books from a sensitivity reader’s perspective, on Instagram @soupgirlreads.

Q. Where can I request your sensitivity reader services?

My platform of choice is Fiverr. Please inbox me there to request my services (please inbox me FIRST before submitting a request). Otherwise, please contact me at soupgirlreads@gmail.com!
